God can Redeem Our Brokenness

During our recent World Impact Short Term Trip to South Asia, we were invited to a drug & alcohol rehab centre. I had the privilege of sharing how Jesus rescued me from a shame-filled life and re-established my identity as a child of God, made in His image. Afterwards, our accompanying pastor an myself prayed with a young inmate. He was desperate for God’s forgiveness but afraid he was too far gone because of his past. We reassured him that Jesus’ grace and love, as shown through the cross, will always be enough to cover all our sin. We invited to now step freely into the life God intended for him. The inmate was moved to tears, evidently relieved to realise that God still loved him deeply and wanted him home. It was surreal and sacred to watch the Holy Spirit move this young man’s heart, pointing him to Jesus and freeing him from shame in a similar way that the Spirit freed me. I am so grateful that God planned that my story and presence could somehow intertwine with another person’s encounter with God. Overall, I am convinced again that God can redeem our brokenness and nothing is impossible for Him!
