Online Pastor
CityLife is currently seeking an Online Pastor.
The Online Pastor is responsible for representing CityLife Church to the world in the digital realm and providing leadership to online congregational expressions including but not exclusive to church services.
This role will be based at our Knox site in Wantirna South.
CityLife Church is a multi-site church that is often expressed as one church in many locations. CityLife is committed to raise up fervent followers of Jesus Christ who will reach out and impact communities, cities and nations for the Kingdom of God. The Online Pastor should look to the missional opportunities inherent to the digital realm and should be able to guide a team of staff and volunteers in creating audio-visual content that engages with relevant issues and draws people into the CityLife ecosystem. Key responsibilities for the role will include but are not limited to:- Work with the Senior Minister and Communications Manager to set the direction for online church services and other content, ensuring alignment with CityLife vision and values.
- Anchor the online hosting for the majority of services being the regular “face” of the CityLife online service and primary point of identification and contact with the online community.
- Working with the online team to identify, train and develop volunteers in the areas of hosts, co-hosts, online chat moderators, technical roles, production roles, set-design and content-creation roles.
- Participate in the weekly weekend services production meeting (as appropriate) and lead the section on the online services. Liaise with the relevant site Service Pastors before weekend services to ensure clarity.
- Work with the relevant site’s Weekend Services & Events administrative staff to produce the content and run sheets for Online Services and events, ensuring completeness.
- Pastor those who primarily identify with the online congregation and establish/adapt appropriate pastoral processes for follow-up of visitors, prayer requests, connecting people to Life Groups, Lifetracks courses, Alpha and identifying any pastoral issues in ways relevant to the online environment and engagement.
- Foster throughout the online congregation and services an environment where people are progressing in their spiritual development in line with CityLife’s vision and goals.
- Respond to online feedback, comments, chat messages, emails, and similar communications in a caring, pastoral way that dignifies the person behind the communication.
The successful applicant will have:- Previous experience in online environments – ideally in the delivery of online services and establishing an online congregation.
- Minimum Certificate IV in Ministry/Theology preferred.
- Extensive working knowledge and use of online and social media platforms
- Stakeholder management and negotiation
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, select and develop leaders/volunteers.
- Demonstrated confidence in spiritual gifts and ministry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication – including public speaking,
- Ability to motivate leaders and grow volunteer leadership teams.
- Leadership - effective consulting and decision-making skills and experience (preferably at least two years’ experience leading others).
- Competence in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Familiarity with CityLife Church and the church’s values, vision, and ethos.
