So it was Monday morning. I was commuting, into the city for work. I had already done my quiet time, but I was really still pondering on the chat that I had with a friend on the weekend about how we make our lives meaningful. I got off the train and started walking to work and did a simple prayer "Make my day count for you, Lord." I got into the office. I didn't think very much about it. I work as a consultant, and, the client recently put me and my team, in a meeting room without windows, a bit depressing. But we had a new, team member who had already joined the team. So this colleague of mine, I've met him once only, very briefly and this will be the first time that we're actually working together. Towards the late afternoon, it was just me and my colleague in that meeting room and, as you would, working away and then you're chatting, and you're just making small talk. And somehow, the conversation went towards church. And then he asked me this question, and he asked, do you go to church? And then I said, yeah, I do. Faith is a big part of my life. And then he said, oh, I thought so. I could hear it in your voice. Because when you speak, you don't speak from your throat. And then continued, he said, when you speak, you speak from deep within, and it's very soothing and calming. Then he shared that he has a few of his friends who also go to church and take their faith seriously, and they display similar qualities. Anyway, before I knew it, we were actually talking about theology in the meeting room without windows. And I offered, myself to him to say, look, if you got any more questions about the Bible, feel free to ask me. And, anyway, just this week, I had the opportunity to have lunch with him, and, I got to share very briefly about the Holy Spirit. It's times like this, the scripture from Colossians 4 verse 6, it says, let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. So by the end of that day, I realized that the Lord had actually answered my prayer. Whatever my day is gonna look like, I am saying this simple prayer, "Make my day count for God" , and then expect the unexpected from Him.
