A mentoring story - CityLife Community Care

A recent Mummy & Me connection has been a huge blessing to the family involved. When the CLCC mentor was introduced to this lovely Mum of 2 boys, she spoke about how much she missed adult company, being so busy with the demands of a special-needs child and a young baby. The mum has expressed how having a mentor to chat with has been so good, as she has realised that she has a lot of grief and hurt inside that she has not dealt with.
She said, “I have to hold it all together and be strong to keep the family functioning.” She struggles to manage making dinner, as this time of day is very chaotic as this is when her boys need her full attention. Her husband does shift work so he isn’t always around to help. The mentor offered to give her a hand to help prepare, cook and make meals that can be frozen to use when needed.
She is so grateful and has really appreciated this kind offer which has helped her better manage dinner time for her and her family. These two mums have made a really lovely connection. The supported mum is now doing so much better since the Mummy & Me mentor has been visiting her weekly. It has really lightened her load having a caring and kind lady who allows her to express how she’s feeling, especially when going through a particularly rough patch. Cooking together - such a simple and practical way to help a family in need. It has been hugely impacting, and a beautiful way to show this family the love of God.
