I have been following the Bible Reading Plan this month on Proverbs about wisdom, understanding and discernment. It has helped me immensely and I find I have been counteracting my feelings of anger and sadness by applying God's Word to my situation. For example, when I get angry I say the scripture, "This is the day the Lord has made. I shall rejoice and be glad in it," and "love covers a multitude of sins." Recently I got a letter from my granddaughter that upset me but I chose to stand on God's Word "love is not quick to take offense". I decided to answer her in love and instead of taking offense, chose to use my answer to her letter as a teachable moment. At her age,  she needs to learn forgiveness by example and to understand that she needs help in managing her emotions. When feelings of sadness overcome me I say, "whatsoever is true, whatsoever is pure, whatsoever is noble, whatsoever is lovely, whatsoever is of good report... dwell on this." Life is full of hurts, upsets, things not going our way, people who won't forgive us, who condemn us but greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world. The scriptures in Proverbs are so lovely to encourage and sustain us in our circumstances. Thank you Lord that we have Your Word, a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.
