Encountering God in My Cancer Journey

I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in June 2019. Throughout my journey, I was thankful for family support especially the unconditional love from my children, helping me face this battle and enduring the many rounds of chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments. In September I was invited to attend a Life Group meeting at CityLife and the invited speaker was a lady who was healed from cancer. After hearing her testimony, I felt inspired and encouraged. I went to the front for prayer and she led me to my salvation and prayed for my healing that day. That started my spiritual journey with God. I started reading the bible and a daily devotion book on healing. Early 2020, I vividly recall one night, whilst asleep, I felt the presence of the Lord looking over at my right side. As I tried to get up, I saw a light shining through my bedroom door, someone going out and looking back at me. After this experience, I trust God knows what is coming... My CT scan unfortunately showed no improvement on the mass across the chest walls. The 7.1 cm tumour started growing. I was in pain, coughing, had shortness of breath and was losing weight. The oncologist decided to change the treatment to targeted oral tablet. I believe it was God’s plan for taking me off chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatment; I was thankful that I didn't have to go through long hours of hospital visits for the intensive chemo and immunotherapy treatment in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic. Praise God, this new oral chemo treatment has worked and the results within the 6 weeks showed the tumour shrinking from 7.39 cm to 4 cm. I was invited to join a ladies Life Group via Zoom meeting during that time and I encountered God’s grace, blessings, peace and fellowship in the group. I strongly believe that regular group prayer is powerful. We find time for sharing and encouraging one another to grow in our Christian faith. I am grateful to God every day for releasing the healing that is in me. All past pains and symptoms are now gone forever! God has been most merciful to make me bounce back on the road to recovery! I continue to put my faith and trust in God, and fully believe that His healing power and His Word is far greater than cancer! Keep resting in the promises of God, put your trust in Him for ongoing help, protection from all harm and stand firm on His Word. Romans 8:25 says o hope and wait. Never give up on prayer!
