I serve on the KIDS team and always try to take the time to acknowledge every child, make them feel special by asking how their week has been or compliment them. As this young lady was collecting her name tag, I noticed she looked rather sad. I said hello and I asked if she had a good week at school. Unfortunately some kids at school had said some mean things to her which made her feel distressed and no doubt rejected. As she left to go to KIDS church, one of the pastors who was with me reached over, held my hand and said, 'Let's pray together for this situation" which we did. After the service, I met this young lady and her mum in the foyer.
I felt that she needed to know that God loves her and that she is a highly favoured child of the Most High. I shared that we would be praying for her and that God was going to do something special for her in the coming week. Later that day at Knox while shopping, I couldn't stop thinking about this girl and her situation. But then, guess who we bumped into again. It was this very girl, with her mother and grandmother! That moment I knew it wasn't a coincidence, it was loud and clear that God was wanting me to do something. I quickly ran into the gift shop and bought a present which was a Beanie Boo (plush toy) I gave it and told her that whenever the enemy tries to make her feel sad to give Beanie Boo a squeeze which means God loves her and that He is with her all the way.
The following Sunday I saw her again but this time she had a smile on her face. She was beaming from ear to ear and I was so excited for her. She was carrying a gift in a bag and a thank you card which said ‘Thank you for the Beanie Boo, it took all my worries away! God bless you!’ I wanted to jump for joy over God's goodness. We now have a special connection with this young lady and I want to thank our Lord for giving me this opportunity to share His love!
