It was the first day we arrived in Cambodia. As we rode on the bus to our hotel, my team leader asked if I would share my testimony that night at a youth meeting. I was a little anxious yet excited at the same time, I said yes. Well, after all, I was in Cambodia to serve and to follow God.
I had about 2 hours to prepare that day... So overcoming my fear and anxiety by God’s grace, that night, as I looked out to see a group of about 30 youth... I felt not only so comfortable but I felt a deep love towards them. I was really happy to be able to share with them. By God’s grace, I was able to share my testimony. No doubt being empowered by the Holy Spirit to do this. Little did I know what impact it would make on some of the youth...
I was so surprised by the response... some of youth came up to me afterwards... I had somehow been able to connect with them. To top it off, towards the end of the night a young girl came up to me, hugged me tight and as I recalled, said something like... “ You saved my life” (though it is not me who can save a life but Jesus Christ). She told me how her mother had passed away… and my testimony spoke to her and how she will now continue to persevere and keep following God.
Wow, it was so heartfelt and touching for me to hear what she said... and so kind of the Lord Jesus to show me glimpse of the work that He is doing and to also encourage me at the same time... how even my testimony, my story... especially that shared at the right time and place... could help others.
I really did not have any idea the extent of the impact my testimony could have on the youth…. only God knows. So follow God... listen to His Holy Spirit, take a step of faith... and share your story. Looking back, somehow, it seemed that much of the hard times that I had gone through up till now was worth it... It was like “... all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 NKJV.
God was able to use my story to encourage others and even more than you could even think… who would have thought?! All glory to our Lord Jesus Christ!
