As a child, I was often sad and lonely and didn’t look forward to going home from school. My parents were both alcoholics and provided no protection or security for the family. Serious quarrels followed by visits from the police were regular occurrences.

Later in life, I  became a Christian and over the years have received a lot of emotional and spiritual healing. I have a special love and concern for children and got a  job as a School Crossing Supervisor. But the work began to take its toll as I felt sad and depressed whenever I saw children walking home alone,  particularly when it was cold and wet; and was planning to quit my job. However, through counselling and prayer, I have received more healing and now see that God’s using my past experiences to bless these children who He notices and loves so much. God has placed me in a unique position to recognise, encourage and bless lonely children through my cheerful greeting, kind words, warm smile and silent prayers.
