God has accompanied me through difficult times. I did not see myself as valuable and so endured 20 years in a dysfunctional relationship with an abusive man. This damaged me emotionally and psychologically and eventually physically too. I struggled with chronic fatigue. When I left that relationship, I came to know God as my husband. I grew to trust Him to provide for all my needs. I began to see myself as valuable to Him. I found, that as I aligned myself with His truth and His perspective of me, He transformed me, both supernaturally and naturally. Alongside this, God has brought me lasting inner healing and transformation through prayer ministry. He also worked through a therapist and a loving Christian “small group” community. In this community, I was mentored and supported to grow.
Having made poor choices with regards to men in the past, I decided to also hand that area of my life over to God. I recall praying, “God, if in your grace you want to give me the gift of a husband, I would really appreciate that”. God has blessed me with someone who is loving, gentle, protective, encouraging and positive. Being in this loving relationship is so life giving. All the loving and affirming words my spouse speaks to me, are healing the damage of the years of verbal cursing of my ex-husband. When you let God provide, He does so much better than you ever could! It is proof of the extent that God has transformed me, that I am in this healthy happy marriage. Together, we have done C.O.A.C.H mentoring training and have used these skills in relationships with our family and neighbours.
