Kids Church Connection with Community Elderly at Whittlesea

Whittlesea Kids Church
had another wonderful day of connection and service when they visited the BUPA aged care home in Thomastown. The children came with their mums to engage, chat and complete craft activities with the seniors who reside at this home.
The mums as well as the children loved the opportunity to help the elderly put together their collages and decorate their "rocks". The elderly loved the interaction with the children. The Lifestyle organiser (Angela) was so thrilled, they had never done anything like it before. We gave them some great ideas to do crafts with the residents and left some play doh with Angela to use for the residents therapy. She was so grateful. When we were finishing up, Angela was already placing the residents crafts in their rooms and she was so thrilled at their achievement and capabilities.
Then one of our Samoan retirees from church who has a beautiful singing voice, came and played his guitar and sang some songs for the other residents that were not doing crafts. Angela is so excited of what we are going to do next time with the residents and eager for our next visit. It was a lovely afternoon and we were all blessed to be a blessing.
What a wonderful thing it is to shed the love of God abroad in the hearts of these senior residents. We are trusting for many more opportunities for Kids church to serve in our local community.
