During the recent cold weather a number of nursing homes have been in ‘lockdown’ due to significant numbers of residents suffering from flu and/or gastro.
This included one of the local homes our CityLife Community Care flower drop volunteers visit monthly. During the visits, volunteers chat to residents and encourage them, they are also given a small bouquet of flowers which have an attached scripture.
The September Scripture was Proverbs 12:25
“Anxiety weighs the heart down, but a kind word lifts it up.”
.
One resident recently called Community Care to thank us for the flowers and especially the scripture that it contained. She was able to keep her eyes on the scripture and the flowers at the side of her bed. Thinking about the fact that people cared for her, gave her peace during what was for her a very frightening time, with people so unwell and some even passing away.
