There have been so many stories of transformation coming from Kids church over the course of the year. The stories shared here have come from the time spent in Kid’s church teaching the kids various ways we can connect with God, speak to God, and hear from God. Not only are they taught these things, but then they are given the opportunity to practice them during Kids church. God is bringing transformation to the children through these activities. Now that I’ve given the background, I will share the stories:
During worship we setup five stations where the children could draw, look at pictures, or write to represent 1) sitting in God’s presence, 2) writing what God was saying to them or how he revealed himself to them through those pictures, 3) drawing pictures for or about God, 4) writing a letter to God, 5) writing the names of God on a large paper. We had a great time with the kids as they engaged with each other and with God.
We had a teaching series where we talked about ‘Why does God want to talk to us?’ and ‘How does God talk to us, what does it look like?’. We shared how God has a good plan for them and that they are fearfully and wonderfully made and then allowed some time for the children to listen and soak in everything God said about them. The children sat with their eyes closed and hands open, receiving God’s words for them.
One morning we invited some intercessors to pray over our children to release the dreams and passions that God has placed within them. The children were very excited and lined up for prayer.
Esther Oakley came and shared with the kids how she hears from God and that she loves to sing what he tells her. She then sang over them what God was saying about them, encouraging them. The children then had time to sit quietly with God and write or draw what they sensed God was saying to them.
God is moving in our children’s lives. He is speaking to them and revealing who he is, and they are listening. It’s remarkable.
