Faith in Action: Bringing Hope, Wherever You AreIntroductionTrue religion is not just belief; it’s action. It’s caring
for those in need, standing in the gap
for the vulnerable, and choosing to live in a way that
reflects God’s heart. Kids Hope is a
beautiful example of this—bringing hope, stability, and love
to children who need it most.
Kids Hope SummaryKids Hope is an early intervention program where mentors go
into local primary schools
and spend one hour per week with a child.
Why does CityLife Casey Partner with Kids Hope?• 45% increase in childhood social anxiety disorder.
• 1 in 10 kids now experience mental health disorders.
• ¾ of kids with clinical anxiety don’t get the care they
need.
• School avoidance is on the rise, especially post-COVID.
Our desire is to see Kids Hope mentoring available for every
Aussie kid who needs it.
Scripture Focus: James 1:26-27“Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not
keep a tight rein on theirtongues deceive themselves, and their religion is
worthless. Religion that God ourFather accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look
after orphans and widows in theirdistress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the
world.”Context of James’ Letter• Written by James, the brother of Jesus, to Jewish
Christians scattered across the
known world after the martyrdom of Stephen (Acts 6:7, James
1:1).
• These believers faced trials, temptations, and the
challenge of living out their faith
in new cultural settings.
• James encourages them to stay true to their faith despite
these challenges.

serve others.

ourunderstanding of faith?2. Power of the Tonguea. James compares the tongue to a rudder steering a
ship—small but powerful.
b. What we say reflects what is in our hearts.
→ Why do you think James focuses on controlling the
tongue as a key signof true faith?3. Caring for Orphans and Widowsa. In ancient times, orphans and widows had no security or
support.
b. James challenges believers to care for the most
vulnerable, just as God has
done for us.
How can we practically care for the vulnerable in our
communities?4. Remaining Unpolluted by the Worlda. The world’s values can shape us if we’re not intentional.
b. We are called to reflect Jesus in our actions and
attitudes.
→ What does it mean to be unpolluted by the world in our
daily lives?Closing Thoughts• True faith is expressed in action—through our words, our
care for others, and our
commitment to God’s ways.
