On a chilly, yet bright Saturday winters
morning, a team of volunteers undertook a home garden project through CityLife
Community Care. It was a practical way to express God’s love by supporting a
widowed mother and her children, who had recently moved into the area. This
mother shared how nice it was to have help from so many kind people. "I
loved it and the kids had a great day too. My sons loved the gardening tools.
Thank you for showing us how to use them. We can maintain this, now that we
have the tools you’ve given us. Thank you also for the basketball, soil bags,
plantings and seeds. We will have a nice project to work on now.”
She shared that her sons’ counsellor had
suggested they have a project to work on which involved growing something - as
a way of healing as they work through the grief of losing their father. She
expressed her gratitude for this gesture from the CLCC Home and Garden
Maintenance Team who trimmed, removed plenty of ivy and other foliage and
debris from the grounds. In taking steps to share God’s love in ways like this,
we continue to plant Kingdom seeds in families – seeds in good soil for the
Holy Spirit to water and grow eternal fruit.
