I had just
come out of an unhealthy relationship and moved back in with my parents.
Feeling overwhelmed, isolated and unsure of how I would support myself and my
son, I was referred to CityLife Community Care’s Financial Coach program. With
the support of my mentor, I gained an understanding of my expenditure and set
up a budget. After completing my studies as a mental health support worker, I
was able to secure a casual job. Now, I know when to expect my bills, payment
plans have been set up, and I have been able to find savings which helped me
see a way forward. CLCC also helped me access a housing service and I was able
to move into a unit local to my work, giving me a new sense of freedom. I now
attend a support group at CLCC and have found a new sense of strength and
empowerment.
