I took some work colleagues to visit the Sistine Chapel
Exhibition on the weekend. I didn’t realise that Michelangelo’s paintings were
based off of biblical stories and events, I just thought they were paintings on
a roof. Well long story short, once I realised that they were depictions of
these stories I was able to give more context and share the Bible story behind
the painting when asked by my colleagues. Like David and Goliath, Jonah, the
bronze snake in the wilderness, Noah’s ark etc. and then be able to talk about
Jesus with them as well. It was interesting because other people were gathering
around while I was sharing the story of the paintings and I was amazed at how
weird and crazy the stories of the Bible are but because of this, how
intriguing they are to people who haven’t heard them before. Because of this,
the colleagues that I took have been asking me questions about my faith and why
I believe what I believe. Excited to see how this continues to play out because
of simply and inviting people to things.
