It Felt Like a Family Straight Away

We had already planned to relocate to Australia before the
global pandemic so we decided to go ahead with our plans. Every step of the
way, we came across wonderful people who made our transition to Melbourne easy.
We found a Christian family online who helped us find a rental by inspecting
the house on our behalf. We had strangers coming forward to help with our
luggage. By faith, we were able to get plane tickets to Melbourne, survived 2
weeks of hotel quarantine, and moved to Melbourne just in time for the second
lockdown. We were at first disappointed that we could not go out or explore
Melbourne. However, we had more time to enjoy family time together. When our
first child was born, we were living a very hectic, career-driven life. It felt
like “taking a deep breath” when our second child was born a few months ago. We
truly had time to sit down, relax, and be family. For years we struggled to fit
into a church community. I am Korean and my husband is half Chinese Malaysian
and half Australian. Trying to find a church that can meet our cultural needs
was almost impossible, especially living in places that were not so
multicultural. So when we contacted City Life, we didn’t have high hopes
because we did not want to be disappointed again. To our surprise, we were
welcomed, nurtured, supported, and loved by lovely people from church. It felt
like a family straight away. We love the fact that people from different
cultural backgrounds worship together. We felt that God has been pursuing our
family despite the circumstances and guiding us throughout the journey. We are
looking forward to meeting people from the church in real life when the
lockdown is over. Meanwhile, we will be keeping everyone in our prayers. Stay
strong, CityLife. Take a big breath, God is in control.
