Call to Prayer

I was listening to the news last week and was really grieved
by the loss of life to Covid-19, especially in the Aged Care sector around
Melbourne. "Oh God'', I cried out. "How can we pray about this?"
( Both personally and corporately). Before I had a sense of what to say, I was
acutely aware of the loneliness of so many, with "no visitor"
policies in place. Even when there are medical staff, they are gowned, masked
and gloved-up! Seemingly "Out-of-Space" aliens. Not the warm,
familiar face of family member or friend. Then an inspired idea came.
"What if you pray for Jesus to visit them, whether by dream, vision, or
personal encounter? He can reassure them that He is with then. They are not
alone!!" This was a huge comfort to dispel the anguish I was feeling.
Jesus is not limited by time or space or Level 4 restrictions. So He can meet
them anywhere! Hospital or home. And if hundreds of people from other Faiths,
report dreams and visions of Jesus, why not those in Aged Care, or anyone else
alone in isolation? That gave me comfort and a huge incentive to pray
regularly, that way, for those feeling alone. What if hundreds of disciples
were motivated to pray this way? Many lonely people could experience Jesus and
be comforted, perhaps even be assured of their final outcome! (Like the thief
on the cross) Perhaps many may then enter the Kingdom of God! Hallelujah! LET'S
PRAY!
