Making a Difference

Our neighbour Rod turned 93 on 28th April. Because of
inclement weather forecast, we were able to give him a revolving birthday party
the day before. People came and went and then others came - we kept within the
current restrictions (4 in our driveway and 4 on our neighbour’s lawn). Some
brought goodies to eat and we kept the coffee mugs full! Rod appreciated the 2
plus hours of celebration (including singing Happy Birthday 3 times) and we
feel these occasions are good for the mental health of all, especially those
living alone and finding it hard to cope. Afterwards I was able to give a
couple of pieces of the strawberry cream birthday sponge cake to the neighbours
who couldn’t fit within the restrictions. We haven’t felt isolated at all and
we trust these times are making a difference and will light up a few lonely
hours in the days. We pray that our neighbours will be drawn to Christ at this
uncertain time.
