Creativity is not limited to a special few – God gave all sorts of gifts for all sorts of people – we are all uniquely made with unique gifts.
In his book ‘The Artisan Soul’ Erwin McManus said, “There is no such thing as Christian artists, but Christians who are artists”.
What makes us special and unique is Christ IN us?
The Lord gave Jeremiah a message recorded in Jeremiah 1:5,
“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born, I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”There is a divine plan for our life – it is not an imitation of another; we are not to compare ourselves to another but to be the best we can be – “We are God’s median of choice” (page 60, The Artisan Soul”). Erwin also said, “God chips away at the rough walls that imprisons us until the beautiful emerges”.
Ask God, “What are You teaching me? Where is the beauty emerging?”
John 2 :1-12 records Jesus’ first miracle – turning the water into wine. Verse 10:
“Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”Verse 11 tells us Jesus revealed His glory at a pagan wedding far from Jerusalem -and His disciples believed in Him.
Be encouraged to use your gifts to live life, to dream big – “the bigger the dream, the greater the risk “(page 150 The Artisan Soul).
1. Just start. (ignore the critics and the doubt) Give yourself permission to be creative.
2. Dream big and start. Give life to your passion, and it will give back to you.
3. Ask God’s idea and follow Him.
4. Make the world better than you left it. Bring Life and to its fullness.
Your gift is a gift to other people.
See God in Nature. See Beauty. See through God’s eyes.
Michelangelo saw the statue or sculpture in the stone. Build your life as a work of art, not if, but how you can be creative.
Discussion Questions1. What can you start?
2. Did you lay something creative aside?
3. Do you need to pick it up again?
