Last week Markus Richardson gave us a great introduction to the Book of Proverbs and its purpose: that we may have a heart of wisdom. Wisdom is calling; do you hear her voice? Markus also spoke last week about how to live wisely; by fearing the Lord; honouring God and letting Him lead our lives.

This week from Proverbs we’re looking at: “What happens when we live wisely?”

Wisdom
  • Guards us
  • Guides us
  • Rewards us
  • Strengthens us

Last week we especially focussed upon Proverbs 1 as a foundation for the Book and for wisdom. This week we’ll draw especially from Proverbs Chapters 2 to 9 (NIV). If you have been reading through Proverbs this month as part of our Bible reading plan you would have read these 9 chapters.

  1. How does wisdom guard you? Look at a selection of these verses and answer this question personally as you share in your Life Group. Prov 2:1-12a (esp. v 7b-12a), 3:21-26; 4:6; 6:20-22; 7:1-5
  2. How does wisdom guide you? Look at a selection of these verses and answer this question personally as you share in your Life Group. Prov 3:5, 6; 4:11-13, 25-27; 6:20-22a
  3. How does wisdom reward you? Look at a selection of these verses and answer this question personally as you share in your Life Group. Prov 3:3, 4, 9, 10, 13-15; 4:7-9; 8:1, 10, 11; 9:12a
  4. How does wisdom strengthen you? Look at a selection of these verses and answer this question personally as you share in your Life Group. Prov 3:1, 2, 7, 8, 16-18; 4:10, 20-23; 9:10, 11

So, In Summary:

  • Discuss with others in your Life Group:
  • What will you do?
  • Will you live wisely?
  • Do you want to have wisdom:
  • Guard you? Guide you? Reward you? Strengthen you?  Or will you do it all on your own?

Pray for each other in pairs to finish the discussion that you each may live wisely.
