As an outward flow of our vision and mission, each year we give to tax-deductible projects that make an impact in our community and beyond.

Your generous giving enables the practical ways in which we reach out through these projects, which in turn brings the many inspiring stories of transformation that we see. The funds received through June constitute the majority of income received for the year in this area. Please consider how you can contribute to partner with us in these projects as we participate in God’s mission to see lives transformed.

CityLife Community Care

CityLife Community Care is the response of our church to the growing needs of the people in our neighbourhood.

We run community groups, projects, events and meals to connect and serve the community. For those struggling financially, we provide practical support, such as food and material and financial assistance, and home maintenance. We walk alongside those going through difficult times, offering one-on-one mentoring and empowering them with life skills such as budgeting, resume writing and conversational English. Our counselling services help individuals, couples and families faced with life challenges such as mental health, addiction, relationship and parenting issues.

In 2019, together with our team of volunteers, we provided close to 8,000 services to over 1,200 individuals and families. This represents a 30% increase from 2018. We also started running programs at three new locations: Boronia Heights Primary School, Boronia Senior Citizen Centre and Westfield Knox Shopping Centre. Through your generous support and partnership, we are able to continue to reach out to people in need in more areas, blessing them with love, hope and tangible help, empowering people to thrive.

I was very concerned about my son who was keeping to himself a lot and having suicidal thoughts, so I came to CityLife Community Care for help. A COACH mentor was matched with my son and he was encouraged to join a Youth Life Group. After attending the Youth LG and talking with his mentor, he started to see things differently. The exposure has helped him to understand that there are so many possibilities at this life stage, which are essential to becoming an adult. He is finding purpose in his life. Not only does he want to take his studies more seriously, he wants be more connected with his family and he is also determined to find a casual/part-time job.

CityLife Community Care is my family and have been there for me in my darkest moments. They have seen me at my worst and whenever I need help or support, they will be my first point of call. I’ve struggled through many challenges both relationally and health wise. I have left an abusive relationship and suffer from anorexia. The practical support services that CLCC offers has been a lifeline and the appointments with the dietician have helped me significantly.

“I was previously a long-term drug user and my life spiralled out of control. Now, no longer relying on drugs, I have found people to connect with for support and it is helping me regain my confidence and social skills.”

Brilliant group to belong to. It provided a safe place to be, to form lasting friendships. I greatly appreciate each and every volunteer for their time and knowledge they have given joyously. Thank you so much!

CityLife World Impact

CityLife World Impact has a goal to reach out and positively impact more than 800 new communities around the world by 2021. As part of this, there are a number of tax-deductible community development projects that CityLife supports through our Kingdom Investment Fund. These projects aim to bless individuals, families and households living in marginalised communities overseas. For example, since 2009 we have funded highly successful adult literacy programs in impoverished rural villages. The literacy project is run by our field partner in India, Divakar. This program has impacted more than 220 villages and dramatically changed the lives of more than 20,000 people forever.
We've embarked on a new project with Divakar that has the potential to impact even more lives, the development of a 3 acre block of land north of Visakhapatnam that was miraculously provided by God. The vision is to build a primary and secondary school, and then a Bible college, student accommodation, chapel and medical centre. Not only will this provide a new base for his rapidly growing ministry, it will also allow him to bless the existing local community and new families moving into this quickly developing area.

The first stage of this project involves the construction of LifeLight School (Bhogapuram, India) that will provide both primary and secondary level education. It will offer high quality, internationally recognised education that will be accessible to poorer families. The school is a proactive response to the felt needs of the local community and it will be a great blessing to them for generations to come. Its influence will be measured in the tens of thousands of lives it impacts. The cost to complete the school construction is AUD $400,000.

Foundation for the school has been laid and construction will begin after the COVID-19 lockdown ends, with the aim of opening the school in 2022.

Your contribution to this project will make a difference. With your help, we can create a brighter future for the children and families of Bhogapuram, India.

Waverley Christian College

Waverley Christian College is a school community where young people are challenged to develop an uncompromising faith in Jesus Christ and learn to grow in love for God and others. The aim of the College is to provide students with the opportunity to participate in a vibrant learning environment, grow in knowledge and wisdom, and develop God-given gifts and abilities. The College has an enrolment of over 2,000 students across campuses at Wantirna South and Narre Warren South. A significant capital development program is required to meet the demands of the growing school community.
The College has an enrolment of over 2,000 students across campuses at Wantirna South and Narre Warren South. A significant capital development program is required to meet the demands of the growing school community.

Our campus at Narre Warren South is now in its ninth year of operation, and has over 800 students enrolled from Prep to Year 12. We continue to be encouraged by the growth of our new campus and the opportunities it is providing to extend Christian Education in one of Australia’s most rapidly developing municipalities. In 2019, construction of Stage 2 of the Primary Building was completed.

Infrastructure works are currently being planned to provide for the continued growth of the campus. These include: the installation of traffic signals at the intersection of Narre Warren – Cranbourne Road and Lansell Close; the completion of the final stage of the car park; and the construction of a new Maintenance Facility. Multi-purpose sports courts will also be installed as part of the car park works.

At our Wantirna South campus, extensions to the Administration Building and Art & Technology Wing were completed in 2019. Currently, the architect and consultant team are busy planning for a new Classroom and Administration Wing. After conducting an extensive master plan review in 2018-2019, a number of priorities emerged for the further development of the campus. Stage 1 of the revised master plan provides for a new Food Studies area and Café, new Reception and Administration areas, and new Primary classrooms and Multi-Purpose areas. This development will necessitate the demolition of the exiting single storey Primary Wing.

Stage 2 will see the existing Administration Building being repurposed to house Student Wellbeing, Student Attendance, Sick Bays and Learning Support. Stage 3 will involve the demolition of a section of the single storey Secondary Wing to make way for the construction of new double storey wing that will house Senior Secondary learning areas, VCE Common Room and Study, administration areas, and also provide a connection with the Library. Stage 4 will provide for the refurbishment of staff areas in the Oval Wing.

“As Year 12 students, we took part in a wellbeing program which taught us to balance our schoolwork alongside other aspects such as health and wellness. This seemed to possess one fundamental message: working hard today brings about change for tomorrow.

If we take a look back on the previous few decades, we can see many positive changes including, social, political and technological improvements, and we want to be part of that change in the future. While we also understand that striving for the construction of a utopia is a futile task, we can see great improvements on issues such as women’s rights, greater equality in the workforce and deeper awareness of mental health challenges.

As Captains, we care deeply about being servant leaders within our school community, and are choosing to focus on embedding a positive school culture and minimising negative behaviour. To lead by example by focusing on health, wellbeing and school-life balance, demonstrates that it is important to do more than study. As we continue to think about the year ahead and how we can positively impact our community and the future beyond school, we would like to start with the smaller things that matter, like today!”
