Victoria and New South Wales have experienced widespread devastation from bushfires over the past few weeks. While the period of immediate threat has lessened, those affected by the fire have a very long road to recovery ahead.
CityLife Church is encouraging our community to consider making contributions towards the relief and recovery efforts through a range of funds described below. While the extent of the loss is so vast it is hard to know how to help, our church has close connections to the heavily impacted Cobargo District in Southern NSW enabling us to advise of some practical funds providing immediate relief on the ground to those most affected. In addition, the two larger more general funds at the bottom are available for those who may wish to contribute to the initiatives that these organisations support.
CityLife Church is not in a position to manage direct assistance into fire affected areas and believe that direct donations to established relief funds is the most efficient and effective way to support bushfire impacted communities. Therefore the links below will take you to the specific funds where you can read about and make an informed decision to donate as you feel led.
Cobargo District Emergency Hay Fund
Eurobodalla disaster relief fund
The Cobargo District Emergency Hay Fund is receiving funds to purchase hay that is desperately needed for animals whose pasture has been destroyed. This assistance will help fire affected farmers maintain their stock through the disaster period.
Salvation Army Disaster Appeal
Eurobodalla has been overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of people from around Australia donating items to our fire affected residents. Shire services are struggling to manage the volume of donated goods, which are overtaking available space and diverting focus away from the welfare and recovery of residents and businesses. The best way to help is to donate to the Eurobodalla Disaster Relief Fund.
The Salvation Army is a faith based organisation with a long history of experience in providing emergency support to those in need.
Samaritan's Purse is a non-profit, Christian organisation providing emergency relief and development assistance to suffering people around the world.
