CityLife Church Addis Ababa

CityLife International Church - Addis Ababa was officially registered under the Ministry of Justice in Ethiopia on May 11th, 2010 and is affiliated with CityLife Church in Melbourne, Australia. Planted in 1969, CityLife has multiple congregations in Melbourne and a wide number of international partnerships. It is home to over 110 nationalities living together in harmony, love and equality. CityLife Australia is led by Mark & Nicole Conner, anointed servants of God.

CityLife International Church - Addis Ababa was planted under the leadership of Paulos and Ababo Djini. After many years of living overseas, Paulos & Ababo felt the call to return to their country of origin in March 2008. Both were sent as missionaries into Africa and have made Addis Ababa their base.

Why CityLife Church in Ethiopia?

CityLife International Church is a mission centred church. Our aim is to work hand-in-hand with forerunning and like-minded churches in developing the mission vision and mobilizing Christians to impact nations both within our boundaries and beyond, to fulfil the Great Commission. Prophetically we feel that the Lord is calling the church here in Ethiopia into active cross-cultural missions. This is God's time for the Christians in our nation.

CityLife Church is in Ethiopia to work in partnership with Christian churches to develop a global and local mission vision in the minds and hearts of Christian local communities and Africa at large.

Our Strategy

As part of our strategy to develop and model global & local mission initiatives, we have started ministries in major local languages such as Amharic & Afaan Oromo.

Through local-language ministry developments, we plan to equip and raise fervent disciples who will reach out to the unreached people groups surrounding our capital city and other strategic regions.

It is estimated that over 30 people-groups out of the 86, in Ethiopia, need to hear the gospel clearly and have a vibrant church plant amongst them. We are committed to working in partnership with the Body of Christ at large to fulfil this great task; this is our calling. Jesus said, "but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." - Acts 1:8.

Our Programs

Currently, we have services in two major & strategic local languages, Amharic and Afaan Oromo. In the last three years we have planted six sites: two of them are in Addis Ababa, one is on the outskirt of Addis and three of them are in the rural part of Oromia. Meeting times and venues at the main site are listed in the panel on the left. We also run a leadership training program called LifeTrax to raise up capable leaders who can lead and protect God's people. Our Lifetrax training programs are offered in Amharic and Afaan Oromo.

Our services involve music, worship, prayer, children ministry, inspirational & practical messages and warm fellowship.

Our vision is to raise up fervent followers of Jesus Christ who will reach out and impact communities, cities and nations for the Kingdom of God.

Our Mission

To plant healthy churches that are international in scope, based on unity in diversity and committed to authentic loving relationship.

To plant missions-centred churches that will expand the Kingdom of God in our city, all federal states of Ethiopia, Africa and the rest of the world; in partnership with others.

To bring the gospel, in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner to various people groups to raise up true disciples of Jesus Christ who are actively growing towards perfection, the image of Christ.

To help release fervent followers of Jesus Christ into their God-given destiny and be a blessing to the nations.

To serve humanity in a holistic way by helping the poor overcome poverty and achieve the means to live their lives with dignity.
